There are few things as beautiful as the trees and foliage of fall. Those wonderful earth tones hold a special fascination to most everyone.

The peak times to view these beautiful colors of fall vary, depending entirely on where you live. Knowing the approximate time when the colors will be at their best, allows you to plan your colorful field trip.

Northern Midwest/Great Lakes Region - The fall colors will peak in this region around the first week in October. This region includes the states of Wisconsin, northern Minnesota, the northern Michigan peninsula, and northern Michigan.

Northeastern United States - Normally the fall colors will reach their peak for most of this region early in October. New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, southern New York, and southern Massachusetts will peak in late October.

Southwestern U.S. - In the southwestern United States the fall colors will peak around the 15th of October. This region includes northern Arizona, New Mexico and southern Utah.

Pacific Northwest & California - Washington, Oregon, and northern California will generally peak in mid to late October. This includes Napa, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park.

Midwestern United States - Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, southern Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia will strut their best colors around mid October.

Southern United States - Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina will generally display their best colors in late October. For Northern Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and South Carolina the peak will be in early November. Usually just before Thanksgiving.

Fall is a great time to plan a family road trip. Not only are the colorful trees and foliage a spectacular sight, there are many other great activities to enjoy.

Sightseeing in Barcelona With Bike Tours

Barcelona is a city of architectural wonder. The monumental historic places are feast to the art lovers. The best way to go about Barcelona for sightseeing is to take the famous half day bike tour around the city.

This is a famous church built by Antoni Gaudi. This is also an important tourist attraction.

Barcelona zoo - Parc de la Ciutadella

This literally translates into the park of the citadel. This park was earlier a fort and was converted into a park containing a zoo, lake and a garden. Gaudi's artistic touch is seen in a fountain contained in this park.

Port Vell: This was a port earlier, but is a hotspot for leisure activities, shopping center, and Barcelona aquarium.

La Barceloneta: Up north of port Vell is the Barceloneta, previously fisherman's living quarters. The point where Barceloneta meets the sea is the place where you will find some of the best sandy beaches of the world.

Montju?c: Montju?c is a small hill on the southwest of the city, overlooking the entire Barcelona. The trek up the hill is worthwhile for it gives a spectacular view as reward. In a courtyard here is the La Font Magica: The fountain of magic.

Red Rock Canyon - There's More To Las Vegas Than The Strip

There is much more to Las Vegas than simply gambling and shows. Most people never leave the Strip when they visit Vegas. As a Las Vegas local, I can tell you that there is much more to see than the inside of a casino. So, after you have won your fortune at the tables or the slots, head outside and take a short drive to Red Rock Canyon.

If you have a rental car or other transportation, you can see an extraordinary geological formation in the desert called Red Rock Canyon. The canyon is located just a short distance from the Las Vegas Strip and it is definitely worth a visit.

Red Rock Canyon is a stunningly beautiful park that showcases the exotic nature of the Mojave Desert and desert wildlife. I visit the park often and I always find something new to gaze at. If you are planning a visit to Las Vegas, make an effort to get out to Red Rock Canyon and take a look at the majestic desert views and scenery. You won't be disappointed.

The park has a 13 mile scenic loop that begins with a stop at the Visitor's Center. The Visitor's Center is staffed with knowledgeable rangers that can point out stops that you won't want to miss.

Your tour through the park takes you down an easy, paved, one-way road with numerous pull-off parking areas. Each parking area is strategically placed at a spectacular viewpoint or the head of a hiking trail. The hiking trails are rated by difficulty, from easy to strenuous by the park rangers.

There are over 15 hiking trails that are rated as 'day-trips'. One of my favorite trails is the Lost Creek - Children's Discovery trail. This trail is rated as easy to moderate and the trail ends at a waterfall. Of course, since this is the desert, the waterfall is a seasonal waterfall and not there all year long.

On your drive around the scenic loop, try to park the car and get out at every pull-off area. The views from each stop on the tour are really worth looking.

If you are in Vegas and you don't have a car, consider renting a car to make this excursion or jumping on one of the many tours offered to Red Rock Canyon. The tours are available from many different tour guide companies in Las Vegas and the tour guides generally do a great job of showing all of the highlights to the tour participants.

Red Rock Canyon is one of the reasons that I moved here to Las Vegas. I encourage all Vegas visitors out to see the park before they leave Vegas. This pak is truly something that every Vegas visitor should see.

Mayan Riviera Deep Sea Fishing

From February through September, Blue and White Marlin, Dorado, Sailfish and Yellowfin Tuna are to be found in fresh runs in Playa del Carmen. Internationally known as the top sailfish hot spot in the world, fishermen are drawn here by the thousands. If you're a serious angler, it doesn't get better than this.

It's because of the unusual topography-Playa del Carmen sits on the edge of an underwater valley. This brings the habitat of the huge game fish right to the shore. You can look down into the darkest blue water you've ever seen. The southern beaches of this area with Dorado, Wahoo, Barracuda, Jack Crevalle, Red Snapper, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, and other fish in abundance draw sports fishermen from all over the world.

Some fishermen come exclusively for the seasonal Marlin runs. Even 500-pounders have been pulled out here. Given the 500 species that live in these waters, everyone can fish-the pros and the amateurs and the beginners.
You can fish inshore if that is your preference or you can fish offshore. Inshore, trophy Snapper, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel and Yellowtail Jacks are pulled out of the water all through the year. Offshore, Atlantic Sailfish, blue and Black Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, and Wahoo are caught on fly rods.
You can rent a boat if you feel up to managing one yourself or you can charter one. If you want to join others in a charter to reduce the cost, those opportunities are available also. Most rentals assure an experienced, English-speaking captain. Soft drinks and ice and water are commonly provided. However, if you want beer or liquor, you will need to bring it yourself. Tackle, bait, and fishing licenses are also typically provided.
Some boats require some experience; however, both men and women are welcome aboard and some providers encourage beginners to come along and even offer lessons. March, April, May, and June are the best months for fishing. You can expect your experienced captain to know the best spots for whatever fish you prefer to try to hook.


Some Suggestions for Conventional Tackle
For the months from May to October, for Dorado, Striped Marlin, and Sailfish, a couple of six- to seven-foot trolling rods are best. If you have roller guides, fighting the fish will be easier, but they are not absolutely necessary. For trolling, 30- to 50-pound monofilament on a Penn 4/0 (or equivalent) with a lever or a star drag will work just fine. However, for bait casting, a Penn 500 and 20-40 pound monofilament is good. You'll also want to bring a Penn 650ss or its equivalent with 10-20 pound monofilament. Three-hundred yards of line should be sufficient for any of the reels. Actually, you may be able to make do with no more than 200 yards but you'll be glad for the extra line if you have it.

Rapalas size CD11 to CD14 or greater lures in green or blue mackerel are said to work best. Also iron spoon-type lures in chrome or blue/chrome have been used. Another one: Yo-Zuri crystal minnow lures in blue mackerel or pink and silver. For tackle, 80- to 120-pount monofiliament and Mustad 6 to 7 hooks should be adequate. If you're experienced enough to experience with other tackle, your boat captain will probably go along. You should have a hard case container for your rods, which you can buy or you can make one with PVC.

These requirements may differ slightly if you're fishing from November to April. It would be best to call your boat provider for suggestions in that case.
