The 15 Fundamental Caravan Accessories for Your New Or Preloved Caravan, Motorhome Or Poptop

Consequently, Eclipse caravans have compiled a list of vital "must haves" which can be provided from your local or online camping and caravan accessories store.

- One item you must not do without is the waste hose. This is a black corrugated smooth bore tube much like the one used to recycle your waste water from the laundry. It comes in 10m or 20m lengths and easily fixed using a connector available from most hardware stores. The smooth bore waste hose prevents smelly waste from collecting in the grooves which are part of other bore waste hoses.

- Drinking water hose also comes in 10 or 20m lengths and is crucial especially if you don't want the toxins to leech into the hose after being out all day in the sun. There are now retractable 25 and 50 foot drinking hoses which coil easily inside a compact case, have already solid brass couplings already attached and are lightweight. These hoses are NSF/FDA approved and useful for the home, car, boat, RV or other outdoor use.

- A winegard antenna aerial is a must if you want to be able to watch a clearer TV whilst travelling. This can be wound down from the inside of the van before taking off and replaced back up when at the site! It requires an experienced installer to install this, or if you are a handyperson then just follow the instructions with the pack.

- A wingman is an extension plastic herring bone looking device suited to the winegard aerial. It is a must to boost the number of channels you can watch. It requires no tools and all fitted with plastic screws. The wingman also fits to the original winegard aerials be it the older versions which are aluminum not plastic.

- Over time, normal toilet tissue clogs your septic tank. So don't forget to buy 4-6 Packets of specialised RV toilet tissue which are easily disposable in the septic tanks of the caravan or motorhome.

- For that extra dust control, ease of storage and save your back from incorrect posture use a compact telescopic dustpan and broom set.

- For outside bug control, 3 various sized compact food storage containers to prevent flies and other insects coming onto your food.

- Compact cutlery separator to help separate out the knives, forks and spoons etc

- Couple mate to help align the trailer or caravan to the tow vehicle.

Alternatively an electric power drive or hitch drive will do the same with an electric motor attached. This is for people who have a huge load pull i.e. boat and caravan and it's rated up to 1800kg and has a remote to go with it to save your back.

- Mini dish drainer or normal dish drainer as this will allow the residual water to drain dissipate and air dry. Our dish drainers also have sprouts for holding cups and the detachable board below can be used as a fillet board.

- Wheel chocks which are used under the wheels when the vehicle is stationary so as to get a level reading on your gas and fridge.

- Security locks to the doors or wheels to prevent the vehicle from being towed away.

- Mosquito fly nets to prevent those annoying mosquitoes and flies from getting into the van and onto your food.

- T or bullseye spirit level to help level the caravan in order for your 3 way fridge to work at optimum.

- Air dryer(s) which can fit onto the back of your van door to help dry your clothes on wet days.
